My name is Dorothia Bester, I am a South African national serving a sentence at the Lang’ata Women’s Prison because of drug trafficking. I am a 32-year-old mother of one. I joined the cross-stitch project in early 2018 and I worked on this cross stitch pattern of a beautiful flower in a vase. It took me roughly three weeks to complete it. I have earned some good amount of money that helps me to take care of myself since I don’t get visitors and it is expensive for my family to send money from South Africa to me. I thank cross stitch because it was really difficult for me to cope with the situation here especially being a foreigner locked away in a different country.
